Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Diponegoro held the Virtual International Guest Lecturer Series on 17 October 2022. On this occasion we invited Professor Khaled Hussainey to share his research experience especially how to write effective literature review. Professor Khaled Hussainey is a Professor of Accounting and Financial Management and the Research Lead of Accounting and Financial Management in the Faculty of Business and Law, the University of Portsmouth, UK. He has published more than 100 articles in Peer-reviewed journals, has written a number of book chapters and has edited a textbook on corporate governance in emerging economics. His papers received the best paper award by The British Accounting Review and by Journal of Risk Finance. He also Co-Editor Journal of Financial Reporting and Accounting, and Journal of Contemporary Issues in Accounting, and also serves as an Associate Editor of Journal of Applied Accounting Research, and International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Performance Evaluation. He has received research grants from, among other the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC); the British Academy; and Qatar National Research Foundation (QNRF), Plymouth University, University of Portsmouth and Abu Dhabi University. He also an experienced PhD supervisor and examiners both external and internal examiners.
Professor Khaled Hussainey presented a topic entitled Effective Literature Review: Tips and Tricks. He first introduces top tier journals that should be considered when doing literature review. He then showed some tips and tricks on literature review, the importance of literature review ini identifying research gaps, proposing research contribution and developing argumentative hypothesis. Finally, Prof Hussainey discussed about some tips and trick on systematic literature review including some guidance and proper research protocol of literature review.
This guest lecturer was attended by 219 participants consisting of doctoral students, some master and undergraduate students, and also faculty members and our alumni. Some participants also came from other universities outside Semarang.
